National security, the economy, and the everyday lives of individuals are perpetually at risk due to the inherent weaknesses in
cyberspace and the ever-escalating nature of cyber-attacks. In response to the serious threats to national cyber defences, over fifty nations have
developed cyber security strategies. While the overarching goal of any cyber security policy should be to protect the nation's online infrastructure
from malicious actors, different countries' threat landscapes need different methods to prevention, defence, and offence.
Based on the recorded legal, operational, technological, and policy-related indicators, this research report analyses and compares twenty nations'
national cyber security strategies. The majority of plans have outlined the need of forming Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT/CSIRT) to
combat cyber-attacks on national cyberspace and designating an official entity to oversee national cyber security activities. The definitions of
important terminology (e.g., cyberspace and cyber security), the goals and descriptions of programs to raise cyber awareness and capability,
legislative actions, etc., are all areas where there is disagreement. The study draws on the comparison to identify and suggest best practices for
bolstering the cyber resilience and security of the country. This research study may be used by governments to their benefit when developing or
updating their cyber security strategy.
