Abstract

Innovative approaches to stop the spread
of the new coronavirus illness (COVID-
19) are becoming more urgent as the
number of deaths rises and worldwide
concern ensues. The use of high-speed
telecommunications systems and non-
contact technologies in healthcare
delivery, management, and monitoring—
also known as telemedicine and
telehealth—has recently gained popularity
and holds great promise for preventing the
spread of the COVID-19 virus by limiting
the social mobility of infected individuals
and protecting healthcare workers from
direct contact with patients. The potential
of telemedicine and associated
technologies as tools in the fight against
the worldwide spread of the COVID-19
pandemic is examined in this article.
