Does a Global Sports Law Exist?

Abstract

How can international sports federations be governed by legislation? This topic 
depends analytically on a more specific question: is international sports law a term 
that can be defined? The terms "international sports law" and "global sports law" 
are distinguished in this article. National courts have the authority to apply 
international sports law. In contrast, a claim of exemption from national law is 
implied by global sports law. From a conceptual standpoint, it is a pretext for 
international sports federations to continue regulating themselves and for national 
legal systems and international sports legislation to refrain from intervening. 
Therefore, it is against the rule of law when it comes to international sport 
regulation.
