Examination of community sports development using the Sports Law for Sports-Based Development

The purpose of this research is to investigate how community sports development policies are
implemented within the framework of the "development thru sport" paradigm. Community sports,
which serve as the foundation for the objectives of growing the sport itself, might be the first step
toward national development via sports in compliance with the Sports Law's mandate. A
descriptive qualitative method is used in this investigation. Purposive sampling was used in this
study, which was carried out in West Java Province. The sports development index is still low
despite the great sporting accomplishments during National Sports Week. During the data
gathering procedure, observations, documentation studies, and interviews were conducted. We
developed seven indicators based on the fundamentals of the community sports section's sports
legislation in order to evaluate the data gathered. According to the study's findings, the community
sports development policy was executed in a way that was almost compliant with the sports
legislation. Nonetheless, disparities persist in some areas. This occurs as a result of both the
community as a group impacted by the execution of policies and the government as policy makers'
continued ignorance of the significance of sport as a tool for national development. As a result,
policymakers in the sports industry need to move quickly to provide answers for assessing future
legislation.
